Golf

Update as of 11/3/2016

The boys golf team entered the 2nd day of competition in 8th place out of 16 teams.

The team improved on their 1st day score of 344 by scoring a 338 .

The conditions were hard again today with gusting winds all throughout the day.

The boys managed to move up to a tie for 7th. place with Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy with a 2 day total of 682, leaving the Jags only 4 strokes out of 6th place.

Scoring for today was as follows: Ty Aulger-92; Chase O'Connor-91; Colby Goodwin-86; Cameron Bonner-83; & Low round for today was Noah Stachowicz with a 78.

Please congratulate these young men for this huge accomplishment. The last time a Jags golf team got to state we were ranked 16 out of 16 and finished in 16th place!!. ( in 2010).

This team improved 9 positions and are excited about next years season.

All 5 return next year and are eager to contend for the state title in 2017.

Coach Cooper

Update as of 11/1/2016

The boys completed their 1st day of competition and although not playing very well moved up 2 positions, from being seeded 10th to #8. The team shot a team score of 343. This puts them within 5 strokes of #5 Arch Bishop McCarthy. That is the goal of our team, to finish in the top 5 if we were not in contention to win the tournament.

The team plays on Wednesday and are paired with Mitchell High School, and Mainland High School. Individual scores today were: Ty Aulger-93; Colby Goodwin-88; Noah Stachowicz-87; Cameron Bonner-86; & low round of the day was Chase O'Connor with an 83.

The course is extremely difficult and the windy conditions did not help matters. The boys were in the dumps over their posted team score but were rejuvenated when they saw that they had moved up 2 spots. Hopefully, they come out on Wednesday and play well enough to finish in the top 5.

Update as of 10/12/2016--Girls

The district tournament marks the end of the year for our team as it has for the past 7 years; but this year... for every golfer!!!! Madison Kaser qualified to go to regionals. This marks the first time in 7 years that a WFHS girls golfer has made it past districts.

As a team, we finished in 4th out of 6 teams, and only 2 shots out of 3rd place (what would have been the first year that I'm aware of that a ladies golf team qualified for regionals). This years team shot a total of 27 shots better, as a team, than we did at the district tournament (same course) last year. This is a huge win for our ladies. This is the only "ball in hole" tournament that they play all year. That means, they keep playing until the ball goes in, period. No pick ups. Every other match is triple bogey pick up.

This is an awesome win for our girls this year. They have played really well this year and I'm super excited for them. I look forward to going to regionals with Madison and watching her compete there.

Please join me in congratulating these young ladies as they have worked hard to improve at the rate they have. Please, also join me in congratulating Madison Kaser in her performance in the district tournament earning her spot in regionals.

Madison will miss Monday and Tuesday of next week for Regionals. Please work with her in your classes ahead of time so she doesn't get to far behind. Thank you again for all you do to support your lady jaguar golf team.

Proud coach,

Brandon Henry

Update as of 9/27

Good morning, just a quick word from our girls golf tournament yesterday. While our girls did not place in the top three among the 13 teams present, they did exceptionally well as a group. I am very proud of these young ladies. Our team score this year was a total of 29 strokes lower than our team score last year in the same tournament at the same location. This is quite an improvement at an avg. of 7.25 strokes per golfer better than last years.

Please join me in congratulating our girls on a job well done yesterday.
