"Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music" -Sergei Rachmaninoff
The West Florida High School orchestra is comprised of talented, young musicians who have chosen to continue their musical journey on the violin, viola, cello, or bass. At this level, students will work hard to improve their skills on their instrument to take with them on their journey after high school whether it be professionally or for pleasure. Orchestra is not just the creation of music, it is the development of professionalism, responsibility, and maturity.
Students are required to participate in the Escambia County Youth Orchestra which rehearses on Monday nights at Washington High School from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Switched on Baroque rehearses from 8:00pm - 8:30pm.  If your student is chosen to participate in the All County Orchestra, there will be extra Monday night rehearsals and a separate concert.  ECYO is mandatory and an extension of the classroom.  Attending ECYO is part of their grade for their class at school. Contact me if there is ever a schedule conflict and the student may be excused.
If you have experience on a string instrument and are interested in joining the orchestra, email
Thank you orchestra parents for always being supportive of your children and their hard work and dedication to their craft! This could not be possible without you. - WFHS Orchestra Director, Ms. Swift
